How it wears
Vanilla is a base note, not a top note
Almost nothing smells of vanilla in the first ten minutes. It sits in the base, which means what you smell on application, citrus, pepper, cardamom, is the opening, and the vanilla arrives underneath it as the fragrance settles. This is why a vanilla perfume can smell sharp on a blotter and warm on skin an hour later. Judge these on the dry-down, never on the spray.

Why 25% matters more than the bottle
Every Millian fragrance is blended at a minimum 25% concentration, the fragrance-oil load that separates an eau de parfum from a lighter eau de toilette. It is the single number that most affects how a vanilla behaves, because vanilla is a heavy molecule: at low concentrations it thins out and disappears; at higher ones it stays close to the skin and holds its shape.
